The starting point

The organisation needed to modernise a legacy Dynamics AX 4.0 environment and move its operational ERP landscape towards Dynamics 365 F&O. Historical AX data was not reloaded into D365 F&O. Instead, it was extracted and retained in Azure SQL to remain accessible for consultation and reporting purposes.

Scope & environment

Dynamics 365 F&O is the target ERP. Historical AX 4.0 data is extracted and retained in Azure SQL outside D365 F&O; it is not reloaded into the new ERP. Power BI supports reporting, while Power Automate handles selected workflows around the target environment.
